What's a cookie

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your browser, letting the site remember things between visits — your language preference, whether you're logged in, whether you've already dismissed a notice. localStorage is a similar browser-storage mechanism that holds small amounts of data locally without being sent to the server on every page load.

We use one localStorage item for the cookie-banner choice, plus an opt-in analytics cookie. No tracking pixels, no third-party advertising cookies, no Facebook Pixel, no Google Tag Manager, no Meta or LinkedIn pixels.

Under the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011 (S.I. No. 336/2011), as updated, non-essential cookies require your explicit prior consent. We obtain that via the cookie banner that appears on your first visit.

Essential — always on

  • fif_cookie_consent_v1 — localStorage, stored on your browser, contains your cookie-banner choice ({essential, analytics, marketing} booleans and a timestamp). Lasts twelve months. Required so we don't show you the banner on every page load.

This item is strictly necessary for the website to function as you've configured it and is exempt from the consent requirement under S.I. 336/2011 Regulation 5(5)(a).

Analytics — opt-in only

  • Plausible Analytics — sets no client-side cookies and does not track you across sites. We receive anonymous page-view counts per URL with no personal identifier. Data is hosted on EU servers (Plausible is based in Estonia, infrastructure in Germany). This is enabled only if you click "Accept all" or check the Analytics box in the banner preferences.

Plausible's privacy policy is at plausible.io/privacy. They do not use data they process for us for any other purpose, and the analytics they collect cannot identify an individual user — no IP addresses are stored, no device fingerprints, no cross-site tracking.

Marketing — off by default

We do not currently run any marketing cookies. The "Marketing" toggle in the cookie banner exists in case we ever add a click-tracking pixel for a paid-ad campaign — it defaults to off, and unless you explicitly enable it, no marketing-cookie load occurs.

How to manage your preferences

Three ways:

  • On this site — clear your browser's localStorage for dublinwelder.com and the banner will appear again on the next page load. You can then make a new choice.
  • In your browser — most browsers let you delete cookies and localStorage in Settings → Privacy → Site Data. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all offer this. You can also block cookies entirely from your browser settings.
  • By email — write to jobs@dublinwelder.com with "COOKIES" in the subject line. We can confirm what's on file (which is very little) and how to remove it.
